Review - My Where Can I Find

If you've been a resident of Muscat for any length of time, chances are you've heard of the Facebook page Muscat - Where can I find. If you're not familiar with the page, it was created to help members ask questions and share answers to things pertaining to life here in Oman. Whether you're looking for a specific item or you have questions about the whole transition as an expat in Oman, this is the place to go.

Nicholla Henderson, founder of Muscat - Where can I find, recently announced the launch of, which will be the new home for the popular Facebook group. With added features that Facebook doesn't provide, it'll be a very useful tool throughout the Muscat community.

Since Muscat - Where can I find is still going through its transition, Nicholla asked me to do a review on the site to help spread the word and I'm very happy to do so. I joined the Facebook group almost a year ago and I would be lost without it!

One of the most important things to any site is its user-friendliness, right? After just a few minutes of looking around the new site I had it figured out. It's pretty straight forward on how to go about asking questions and sharing answers.

Here are some of the new features that I love!

  • How many of us are guilty of asking the same question more than once on Muscat - Where can I find? (I'm raising my hand!) Not only can you search keywords but it saves the history of your previous questions. How cool is that?
  • You can rate the answers!! When I'm searching for recipes online, I base my decision on which recipe I'll use by the ratings. Now you can do the same on My Where Can I Find.
  • No longer will your unanswered question be pushed down to the bottom of the Facebook page where it's forgotten and ignored. Now you can click on the 'Answer unanswered questions' tab and help a poor soul ;-)
  • You can browse by categories. This is an awesome way to narrow down your search and to get closer to the topic that you're looking for!
  • It's FREE ... enough said.
For those of you curious about the future of the Facebook page, it'll be sticking around as well. The new site will build on the community that has been formed and provide a more convenient service.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic site and it's going to get plenty of use by the people of Muscat (and those on their way). Hats off to Nicholla and everyone else that helped create the site.

Go ahead and check it out:
